The idea of establishing a Sports Club for athletes with special needs began with a conversation between a parent and a teacher in the summer of 2006.

The parent, Coach Lori Patterson, had moved back to Minnesota from Arizona with her family in the summer of 2005. While living in Arizona, Lori had coached and her sons had participated in Special Olympics.

The teacher, Administration Coach Linda Lindeman, began teaching students with special needs at Rush City in the fall of 2005.

After many conversations, brainstorming and planning sessions, Paradise Pride, Inc. a Sports Club 4 Special Athletes, officially began in January of 2007 with an informational meeting for interested athletes and their parents at Jacobson Elementary School in Rush City, MN.

We have been able to accomplish many of our first year goals because of the tremendous support from our athletes, their families and friends, volunteers, Central Minnesota community businesses and many members from Central Minnesota communities.
