As part of our vision for Paradise Pride, Inc. we want to provide opportunities for our athletes to volunteer to assist in community events. In August of 2007 we volunteered to participate in the set-up and take-down for the Rush City Music and Art Festival. It was a great experience for all of us!! We were honored on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 to read the following letter to the Editor in the ECM Post Review from Joanne Ploetz, Coordinator, Rush City Music & Art Festival.
"YOUNG PEOPLE SHOULD BE THANKED:
[ note: the following is a partial quote from Joanne's letter. It is printed with her permission]
TO THE EDITOR:
...To those who helped set up tables, tents, benches, and bleachers a huge thank you, and to those who endured the pouring rain to take them down again an even bigger thank you. But a very special thank you must go out to Paradise Pride who brought very special young people on Friday, and again on Sunday to help set up and take down the event because they wanted to give back to the community. If anyone would have a reason to not step in and help it could be these young people who already face many challenges each day that we might take for granted. But here they were with smiles on their faces eager to help, lift, and lend a hand wherever they could. The Music & Art Festival was already a successful weekend but it was Paradise Pride that made it truly outstanding."
